Vietnamese football, Trudeau appointed former Japanese coach…Park Hang-seo succeeded

Philippe Troussier (68, France), former Japanese coach, has been appointed as the head coach of the Vietnam national soccer team, succeeding head coach Park Hang-seo (66).

The Vietnam Football Association announced on its website on the 16th that it had reached an agreement with former coach Trudeau, a candidate for the national team manager position, over goals and duties.

He added that an official appointment announcement would be made within this month.

Former coach Troussier decided to lead the under-23 (U-23) national team as well.

He led the Japanese national team to win the Asian Cup in 2000 and advance to the round of 16 in the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup.

In addition to Japan, he also coached the national teams of South Africa, Nigeria and Qatar.

In 2019, he worked as the head coach of Vietnam’s under-18 (U-18) national team and also established a안전놀이터 connection with Vietnamese football.

Since then, Vietnam has been on the rise, advancing to the final Asian qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. It was the first time in history that Vietnam reached the final World Cup qualifiers.

On the 11th of last month, he also received the foreign director award at the Victory Cup ceremony held in Hanoi, Vietnam.

This award is given to the best foreign sports coach throughout the year.

Vietnam, which was ranked 134th in the FIFA rankings in 2016, entered the top 100 under Park’s leadership. In December of last year, the ranking was 96th.
