Lotte Giants outfielder Yoon Dong-hee has been removed from the starting lineup for the second straight game.
It’s a protective move.
Yoon was left out of the starting lineup for the 12th game of the season against the NC at Changwon NC Park on Aug. 8. It was the second consecutive day he was left out of the starting lineup following the game against Samsung in Ulsan on the 7th.안전놀이터
The day before, Lotte explained, “Yoon Dong-hee was out of the lineup due to a tightness in her right thigh.”
Before the NC game on the 8th, Lotte acting head coach Lee Jong-woon explained the exclusion as a protective measure, saying, “I’m still a little uneasy, so I’m going to use him as a substitute in the second half of the game.” The player herself is full of determination.
Yoon Dong-hee said, “I don’t have a problem playing,” and was eager to play. However, Lee said, “We are also in a hurry. But we have to protect the players first,” Lee laughed.
Second-year player Yoon Dong-hee has been one of Lotte’s top hits this season, along with rookie Kim Min-seok.
In 89 games as a full-time player for the first time, Yoon is 3-for-3 with two home runs, 34 RBIs and a 0.710 OPS.
With 96 hits, he is four away from his first 100-hit season. He has established himself as a Rookie of the Year candidate alongside Hanwha’s Moon Dong-joo and Kia’s Yoon Young-chul. He is aggressive at the plate and determined in the outfield.
He has a .301 batting average with runners in scoring position, and he often makes spectacular plays in the outfield.
Together with Kim Min-seok, they are the present and future of Lotte’s outfield. If he feels the slightest bit uncomfortable, he has no choice but to walk across stone bridges to avoid aggravation.
Meanwhile, Lotte deployed third baseman Niko Goodrum in right field. This is his first start in right field. Gudrum is trying to minimize his defensive burden and focus on hitting.
Gudrum, who has been dealing with a nagging hamstring, has been making a lot of mistakes at third base lately, exposing his insecurities. On July 7 against Samsung Electronics, he recorded his first multi-hit game in three games with a triple.
Acting manager Lee Jong-woon said, “He originally played the outfield. I feel like he’s struggling a bit in the infield. It’s important for him to regain his normal condition,” emphasizing that this is a temporary measure.
Lotte’s lineup consisted of Jung-hoon Lee (1B), Lee Jeong-hoon (designated hitter), Ahn Chi-hong (2B), Jeon Jun-woo (left fielder), Kim Min-seok (center fielder), Nico Goodrum (right fielder), Yoo Kang-nam (catcher), Noh Jin-hyuk (shortstop), and Park Seung-wook (3B). The starter is left-hander Charlie Barnes.
