Established Korea’s first smart air dome in Gyeongju, ‘Millennial Altitude’… regular size indoor soccer field

An indoor soccer field with regular standards has been built in Gyeongju, the ‘Thousand Years Altitude’.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold a completion ceremony for the ‘Smart Air Dome’ on the 30th and start pilot operation for two months. It is scheduled to officially open in April after improving supplementary points through field training for amateur soccer teams, including business teams, for two months.

Smart Air Dome was established in 2020 with the purpose of revitalizing the local economy and creating jobs by installing battery training facilities in Korea. Gyeongju is the first place where an air dome has been built as a specialized off-battery training facility selected through a public contest by a local government. The construction cost was 10.7 billion won, including 5 billion won from the government, and depending on the performance, it can be expanded into an air dome that doubles as a baseball field.안전놀이터

If you build an air dome that doubles as a baseball field, it can also be used as a training ground for basic sports such as track and field. It is known that some local governments are already conducting a feasibility study with the construction of a smart air dome combined with a baseball field in mind.

The smart air dome is equipped with a system that automatically purifies air by supplying air from the outer membrane. It is not affected by the external environment such as fine dust, yellow dust, or bad weather, so it can be used regardless of the season. Especially in winter, it was difficult to find a soccer field with a regular standard, so there were restrictions on training.

Since it is an air dome, there are no pillars. The indirect lighting system also has the advantage of being able to play without glare and shadow interference. Vice Minister Cho Yong-man of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said, “I hope that Gyeongju City will build a new image as a sports tourism city through the Smart Air Dome and revitalize the local economy by linking it with accommodation and tourism infrastructure in the region.”
